Rev. Cheryl Juanita Beard is a native of Augusta, Georgia, where she was educated in parochial and public schools, graduating from The Academy of Richmond County
She is a trained community organizer passionate about youth development, social justice concerns, and community development. She is currently the volunteer CEO of The Rosa T. Beard Debutante Club Inc. in Augusta, Georgia. Started by her mother in 1963, the organization focuses on African-American high school girls’ leadership and cultural development.
Rev. Cheryl has received multiple awards, including the Distinguished Alumni Award of Fisk University in Community Service; The Ruby Wharton Award for Youth/Juvenile Justice from Memphis Mayor A. C. Wharton; and the Legends Awards – Catalyst Award from the Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis.
She completed her undergraduate degree at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee (1983) and earned a Master of City and Regional Planning Degree from the University of Memphis (1990).
Ordained as a Minister in 2013, she received the Certificate of Urban Youth Ministry through Crichton College and completed her master’s coursework at Reformed Theological Seminary.
She firmly believes that a life lived with purpose, for purpose, on purpose, and in alignment with God’s will, is not lived in vain.
