“HERstory, our story, is living a legacy of perseverance and resilience, striving for excellence in all that we are. Our young ladies exemplify these qualities in their individual uniqueness and in their collective commitment to our standards. Serving with such a marvelous group of girls is a precious privilege.”
Finally, sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. (Philippians 4:8 ESV)
Throughout the year, Debutantes engage with the community at various events, including church worship services and civic and cultural programs.
Meetings are held from September to May, twice monthly: on the first and third Saturday. The Cotillion is held annually in April. Founder’s Day activities are in November.
The Club bestows an honorary college scholarship to a Debutante awarded the Rosa T. Beard Founder’s Award and supports an eponymous endowed scholarship at her alma mater, Paine College.
Those happy young ladies in pink and white,
Who waltz to the music on a warm summer’s night,
To be watched with pride and honor by all,
For this is the night of the Cotillion Ball.
They work hard and true the whole year round,
to earn this eve of majestic sound.
