    WHAT IS A DEBUTANTE?

    She is a young lady who makes valuable personal connections, attends church worship services, is a servant leader, actively participates in the community, and engages culturally and civically.

    IN WHAT TYPES OF ACTIVITIES DO CLUB MEMBERS PARTICIPATE?

    Debutantes and Sub-Debutantes generally participate in business meetings, workshops, and community engagement activities twice monthly from September through May.

    WHAT DO THE DEBUTANTES WEAR TO THE SPRING COTILLION?

    Debutantes traditionally wear white, and Sub-Debutantes wear blush pink, floor-length evening gowns for their presentations.

    DOES THE DEBUTANTE NEED AN ESCORT FOR COTILLION?

    Presented by her father and escorted by a male friend, the gentlemen are dressed in their finest tuxedo formal wear, performing lively ballroom dances with their Debutante.

    HOW MAY I BECOME A MEMBER OF THE ROSA T. BEARD DEBUTANTE CLUB INC.?

    High school girls approaching 11th and 12th grades are nominated in the spring each year. An application is then required. Criteria include good character, good academic standing, and ladylike qualities. If accepted for membership, annual dues are required.     She is a young lady of high school age interested in upholding the tradition of making her entrance into adulthood. Debutantes (seniors) and Sub Debutantes (juniors) are introduced to society in an elegant ball at the annual Cotillion.

    Presented by her father and escorted by a loved one, the debutantes are dressed in their finest formal wear, performing lively ballroom dances.

    What should the father of the debutante and escort wear?

    The fathers and escorts of debutantes should wear full evening attire (tailcoat and trousers, white shirt with pique front, pique vest and tie, and the attendants wear white gloves).
